weekday dinners

Yesterday, Mia saw 3 special steps on how to make a birthday cake.  3 special steps as said by Special Agent Oso’s Paw Pilot.  Special Agent Oso is Mia’s favorite Playhouse Disney show.  And so, she told me, “Mom, pls. buy birthday cake.”  I could not say no even if both of us have been down with cough and colds for the past 3 days, hence, a phone call to dad.

Adel came home late in the afternoon to his 2 sick babies.  After giving his pasalubongs, we ordered the “birthday cake” Mia never forgot about.  She repeatedly told her dad, “Dad, pls. buy birthday cake”.

This came 30 minutes after we called 8-7777 Red Ribbon Delivery.

For dinner, I talked Adel into trying out City Delivery.  I wanted to do the ordering online.  My throat was too tired from coughing.  The website gives you several choices, depending on your area.  It was refreshing to be presented with non-fast food menus which can be delivered straight to your doorstep. Wonderful!

Last night, we chose Cibo.  It came a little less than an hour after our call - not bad at all.

Our instructions were for them to provide a mobile POS since we wanted to pay via credit card (sayang ang points).  The rider informed us that he got a flat tire, had to change motorcycles, thereby leaving behind the machine.  He offered to go back to get it while we enjoyed our meal.  We decided to pay in cash; we were nice last night.  Baka may mawalan pa ng trabaho dahil sa akin, hindi na kakayanin ng dibdib ko (insert *double wink).

I got Linguine Al Nero Di Seppia.  This is my all-time favorite at Cibo.  I love how the squid ink gives color to the pasta, and the tiny bits of tasty squid makes me dig in for more.
still the way i like it!

Adel tried the Penne All’ Amado.  He wanted something heavy, so he chose this.  It was not quite what we expected.  We were picturing beef – chunks or strips – and flavorful sauce.  The hubby isn’t into healthy pasta dishes (except for my version of the Aglio Olio), so we shared the linguine.  But hey, the penne was good for it’s category.  Kasi sabi braised beef sauce, hindi braised “beef as sauce”.

There was also pizza.  Adel likes all-meat pizza anywhere, but there was none in the menu, so he got the Praga.  The thin crust was, as usual, perfect!

My first real dinner after 3 days in bed was delightful!  We ate from the take-away containers with those disposable utensils, while the paper packaging was still in front of us.  It was a perfect dinner delivery!

I noticed our weekday surprise dinners almost always turn out really good.  Maybe because our dinners are a given on weekends a.k.a. family days.  We’ll do this more often.
