hurray for perfect attendance!

March 25, 2011 – Camella School Las Piñas City

I missed mentioning the Calligraphy Award.

All in all, our dear Chami took home 5 medals for the recent school year.
L-R: Calligraphy award, Perfect Attendance award, Deportment award,
Academic Excellence award and  Computer award.

The Academic Excellence award is given to students who achieved a certain, very high, grade point average for the entire school year.  Aside from Chami who is in 4th grade, only a Junior got the award in their entire school.
Academic Excellence awardees: Chami and Ayla Matencio

Chami does us proud every year.  Not only does she excel in academics, she is also a very active member of the Drum and Lyre Band.  Mia, who usually wakes up late, opened her eyes smiling when we had to jump out of bed really early to watch her Ate Chami compete.

Drum and Lyre competition.

This year’s recognition day is extra special because this is the very 1st time Chami achieved a perfect attendance!  I know for a fact that she worked really hard for this.  A bit of history: as the only grandchild for quite some time, she was constantly being brought by Papa and Mama for week-long visits to the province every month; hence, a week absent from school ;).

Let me confess that I almost robbed her of this award.  Earlier this year she badly wanted to join the trip to Baguio, where departure was on a very early Friday morning.  She begged for a later trip so she can still attend class on that day and asked for an assurance that they will be back on Sunday to allow her to go to school on Monday.  I remember being such a bad influence, “Just go to Baguio!  Ok lang not to have perfect attendance.  Dean’s listers usually don’t have perfect attendance – they are given unlimited absences!”   Good that she persevered to get what she wants, that she was steadfast enough to ignore the naughty aunt that I was ;-p.

her very 1st Perfect Attendance award

Adrianne Francoise L. Aliño, Chami to family, is our niece cum daughter.  The eldest Aliño grandchild, she has been everyone’s baby.  We celebrate her every milestone and worry for each one of her wounds.  Our baby girl is turning 12 soon.  Don’t grow up too fast babe!
with our babies, Mia and Chami ☺
